Lifetime Warranty
Every katana sold by Katana Canada is guaranteed for life against manufacturing defects. We can make that promise for a simple reason: we know how our blades are forged, mounted and inspected before they reach you. If a forging or mounting defect appears, today, in five years or in twenty, we take care of it.
What the lifetime warranty covers
- Manufacturing defects of the blade (steel, heat treatment, geometry);
- Original mounting defects: tang (nakago), guard (tsuba), handle (tsuka), wrap (ito), scabbard (saya);
- For the entire life of the product, with no time limit.
What it does not cover
- Normal wear (patina, wrap loosening through use, minor scratches);
- Damage caused by inappropriate use: cutting hard targets (wood, metal, thick green bamboo), deliberate impacts, throwing;
- Lack of maintenance (corrosion from absence of cleaning/oiling);
- Modifications, disassembly or sharpening outside our recommendations.
Who it applies to, and how to use it
The warranty applies to the original purchaser, with proof of purchase (your order confirmation email is enough). To make a claim, write to contact@katana-canada.ca with photos of the defect and your order number. We reply within 24 to 48 hours, Monday to Friday, and, depending on the case, we repair, replace the part or the katana, or offer store credit.
Your legal rights remain unchanged
This warranty is offered free of charge and is in addition to any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection legislation in your province.
