Just like it's supposed to be. Looks, sharpness, and finish.

“The customizer allowed me to build the katana that was forged to my great satisfaction.”
“I got this as a gift for my husband and he loves it. There were so many choices to make it truly custom.”

Every custom katana starts from a 72 cm blade and becomes yours through fourteen choices. Here is what each one changes, and what it costs in the builder.
Sharpened or not sharpened, same price. A not-sharpened blade is the simpler choice for display and cosplay. The bo-hi is the groove along the blade: it lightens it and moves the balance toward the handle. Without a groove is included; with a groove adds $29.

The tsuka-ito is the braid wrapped around the handle; the samegawa is the stingray skin you see through its diamonds. Choose among 18 cotton braids, included, or 18 leather braids for $39, then one of six samegawa colours: white, black, red, blue, yellow or green.
Black cotton over a black or red samegawa is the pairing our customers pick most often.
The tsuba is the guard, the fuchi the collar at the base of the handle, the menuki the small ornaments under the wrap and the kashira the pommel. They come as a matching set: 117 sets are available, in steel alloy ($20 to $30), copper ($79) or gold- and silver-plated ($219).
The habaki is the collar that holds the blade firmly in the saya; the seppa are the two spacers on each side of the tsuba. Choose among 28 engraved copper habaki and six seppa finishes: golden, bronze, black, silver, white or glossy black. All included.
The saya is the scabbard. 91 designs are available, from $25 up to $349 for the top models, finished with genuine buffalo-horn fittings and traditional lacquer. The sageo is the cord tied to the saya: 17 colours, included.
Free. A name, a date, a motto or kanji, up to 40 characters including spaces, in Latin letters or Japanese characters. Nearly two out of three of our customers add one.

Finish the build with a stand (classic, premium or wall mount, from $29), a silk bag ($25) or a premium box with a yellow silk interior and two locks ($59). About half of our customers add a stand.
From $454 CAD with the default build, up to about $1,800 with a hand-polished two-steel blade, premium fittings and accessories. Over the last 12 months, half of our custom orders landed between $548 and $830. The price is shown at every step, duties included.
Yes, at step 1, for the same price. Sharpened is the default and most of our customers keep it; a not-sharpened blade is the simpler choice for display and cosplay.
Katanas are not prohibited weapons under the Criminal Code: adults can own one without a permit or registration. Keep it for display, collection or practice, and transport it wrapped and out of reach. We sell to adults 18 and over only. Our complete guide to sword laws in Canada
